Or should I say armed brothers which in our house is usally more apt, the arms being pillows, footballs or anything else that either boy may have to hand.
However, something rare happened on Thursday, we had what I will now term a “Brothers in Arms” day and I got a rare compilment from a stranger. Let me explain. As ever we were running late for football practice and younger boy hadn’t got his trainers on. We eventually agreed that he would put them on on route and older boy then did something very out of character, he offered to show younger boy how to tie his shoe laces. Once we were on route he then taught younger boy how to do this task in a very step by step manner which I know I wouldn’t have had the patience to follow myself. I was impressed, younger boy was impressed and eager to practice.
Football practice took place and younger boy was desperate to practice under his brother’s guidance some more on the way home. A lady must have been watching them for some time before catching my attention and telling me what a good brother older boy was. I thanked her but couldn’t resist telling her that they fight all the time at home. Then I felt an emotion that I wasnt’t very familiar with, pride. This made a pleasant change.
